Environmental Health

The Environmental Health Department aims to protect human health and the environment through prevention of disease, injury, and illness by the promotion of scientific, evidence-based practices and education.

Central Valley Health District (CVHD) provides environmental health services across eight counties in southeast central North Dakota: Barnes, Dickey, Foster, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, Stutsman, and Wells.

Request Facility Inspection Records

Public inspection records for licensed facilities are available: food service inspections (bars, restaurants, child care) through the North Dakota Department of Health system, and other facilities (aquatics, body art, tanning) through an open record request form.

Services

Aquatic Facilities

We license and inspect pools, water parks, spas, wading pools, and floatation tanks to protect against the spread of recreational water illnesses, drowning, or other physical injury.

Body Art Facilities

Inspection and licensing covers tattooing, body piercing, branding, and scarification to reduce the risk of communicable disease and injury.

Food Service Facilities

We license and inspect public food service establishments to reduce the risk of foodborne illness.

Non-Community Water Supply

Inspections are provided for facilities designated by the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality.

On-Site Sewage Treatment Systems (OSTS)

We license installers and permit new systems and repairs involving septic tanks, drain fields, and related components.
